Level Properties control the global settings that affect the entire level regardless of section. Access this menu by pressing EscapeLevel Properties.

Properties

Max Time

The maximum time allowed for the level (in seconds). If the player exceeds this time, the level is lost. Default: 100.

Initial Time

The starting time for the countdown timer. The level begins with this many seconds remaining. Default: 100.

Lives

The number of lives the player starts with. Set to 0 for default behavior. Default: 0.

Hourglass

Enable or disable the hourglass mechanic. When enabled, the player can collect hourglass items to add time. Default: Enabled.

Infinite Lives

When enabled, the player has unlimited lives and cannot lose from running out of lives. Default: Enabled.

Level Script

The Script button opens the Script Properties panel for the level itself. This allows you to attach a Lua script that runs for the entire level, with:
  • Script Reference — Name of the script in the level’s script collection
  • Script Tag — Identifier for this level instance
  • Local Variables — Key-value pairs accessible from the level script

Sections Button

The Sections button opens the Sections Editor, where you can create, edit, and switch between level sections. See Sections for details.

How Properties Are Used

These values are stored in the LevelData object and used by the gameplay system:
  • InitialTime and MaxTime control the in-game timer
  • Lives and HasInfiniteLives determine the player’s life count
  • IsHourglassEnabled toggles hourglass item functionality
  • BestEditorElapsedTime tracks the best completion time from testing
Level properties apply to the entire level — they are not per-section. If you need different settings per section, use the section properties system instead.
